Ol Choro Oiroua is a 17,000 acre conservancy in the North-Western corner of the Greater Mara Ecosystem. Seiya Ltd. is contracted by Fairmont Kenya to manage the conservancy and is responsible for the area’s holistic land management and community development programmes. Revenue is collected and distributed to the 86 Maasai Landowners on a per acre basis.
This initiative is a unique agreement that secures and protects the surrounding ecosystem through direct support from the tourism partner, Fairmont Kenya and the Mara Safari Club; whom together with the Local Land Owners have taken the lead in investing in human and wildlife welfare.
The Land Owner’s revenue is earned from game viewing fees collected at the Mara Safari Club and is then distributed to each of the Landowner’s bank accounts each month without any deductions or charges.
